Weather in the Inca jungle trek change a lot special the first day. however the weather is very warm in Santa Maria, Santa Tereza and Aguas Calientes. all this towns are located lower then Cusco and they are not higher then 2400 meter about the see level. Temperature during all year is between 10°C and 25 °C. Only in the biking portion you will need warm jacket and rain jacket.

3What do I need to bring to the Inca Jungle trek?

Each trek is different and you will obviously modify your packing list for your own needs. The Inca Jungle tour is different in the way that you stay in hotels along your trek. You can therefore bring extra things relevant to this as you will not have a weight limit like other treks. Do be mindful that you will have to carry your own pack during the hiking sections of the trip but during other activities they hall be safely stored in our van or other secure locations.

Essentials: Water bottle/s of 3 litres in total, waterproofs (jacket and pants), extra socks & underwear, bug repellent, sunscreen, extra layers and clothing i.e. jumper for subsequent days, sun hat / beanie, any medication you need including inhalers, extra lightweight shoes / flip flops, swimwear and towel, bags to put wet clothing, money, passport. Optional: Walking poles, battery pack, go pro, camera, sunglasses, phone, lip balm (UV rays here are some of the highest in the world), extra clothing, snacks (although we do provide you with this). If you are unsure whether you will need an item, just as us during briefing or on your inquiry form when booking.

4What happens if I have a medical condition?

You know yourself better than anyone else if your medical condition will hinder your trip or not. It is imperative that you let us know however, especially if you intend to carry medications with you. We can advise on the best options if we are aware and also make special provisions if needed. Although if you do have an ongoing medical condition we highly urge you to seek council with your doctor before booking onto any trek.

5Is Water Included on the Trip?

Yes. You’ll need to make sure you take enough water for the first morning of your trek, but after this, we’ll provide you with boiled water to fill your bottle or pouch with at every meal and campsite. The water is clean and perfectly safe for you to drink, so you don’t need to worry in that respect.
Make sure you take a reusable bottle or Camelbak to use the entire trek. We prefer not to use plastic bottles to help protect the environment and the routes.

6Do I need to bring extra money for the trip?

Although everything is paid for in advance and included in the package, you definitely need to take some extra cash with you for the trek. Around 500 Peruvian soles are enough. Don’t take dollars, as these aren’t liable to tender in rural parts of the country.

You might not need to use any at all, but it’s always a good idea in case of emergencies or if you need to buy anything along the way. You might also find that you feel tired on a part of the route and would like to hire a horse for a small section.

7What is the highest point on the Inca jungle?

The highest point that you will reach doing this Inca Jungle Trek will be at the beginning of the mountain bike on the first day; the altitude is 4,316 meters (14,160 ft), but you will reach there by car and be there only for a few minutes before starting the cycling down to the jungle.
On the next day, the altitude will vary from 1200 to 2,040 meters, and the altitude of Machu Picchu is 2,430 meters, which you will visit on the last day.

8What is the grade of the water rafting and is it safe?

Cusco has many places where you can do rafting, but the one that is located along the Inca Jungle Trek is one of the most well-recommended for beginners and experienced people. On this river, you will easily find I, II, III, and III+, with some rapids that make it perfect to enjoy the water.
This activity is very safe because the people who work with us are very professional and licensed by the authorities in Cusco. They will provide a safety speech before going in the river, as well as the safety gear (helmet, life jacket, water shoes, splash jacket). There will also be a safety kayaker who will take care during the rafting.

On the second day, you will see different local farms where fruits are grown, such as bananas, oranges, limes, papayas, avocados, and more. You will also see some wild fruits. We will have the opportunity to visit some coca crops and learn how we use them.

11How long and safe is the Zipline?

we know these kinds of activities have a big risk, which is why we have chosen the safest zipline company in the area, which guarantees safety and has a lot of experience.
That zipline is one of the longest in the Cusco region, and it crosses the valley a few times with different circuits, the longest of which is about a kilometer.

12Can I skip the extra activities Raf and Zip?

Yes, if you want to skip these activities for any reason, we understand and will help you find another option. You can also just stay at the base camp with the others in the group and board the bus together to reach the next place.

13When’s the Best Time of Year to Trek Inca Jungle?

The answer to this question changes depending on your preferences. If you want to visit Cusco during the dry season when there is much less chance of rain, it is best to come between May and October.
The rest of the year there are rains most days and we can never guarantee a dry hike. June and July are the busiest months so you will need to book well in advance. However, it is also very cold during the nights at this time of the year.

On the other hand, you may not be too concerned about the weather and would prefer to enjoy the walk without many other visitors. In this case, traveling during the rainy season means that there are not many people on the road. However, keep in mind that January and February are particularly wet and the route can be slippery.

In general, the best time of the year to do the Inca Jungle route is in May or October. The crowds are not too big and the weather is generally nice and you will get fantastic views of the landscape. This way, you get the best of both worlds.

14How many people are there per group?

The maximum group size for all treks is 12 people. In general, our groups are from 4 to 10 people. PERU TREK specializes in SMALL and PRIVATE groups and provides personalized services.

It is not possible to create the experience we provide without the unbelievably hard work of our team of porters. They are made up of men varying ages who are willing to leave their homes several hours away for days at a time. They are typically farmers.

We care for their health and the health of their families. In their communities we work on many social projects, especially in education and health, where we have small reinforcement schools with teachers in the subjects that the children of our porters require, we implement libraries, even school buildings.
